I have numerous friends who are (were) successful artists. They had work in numerous galleries, making a nice living. One of them has had numerous galleries go out of business and has been forced to give up his house. He is primarily teaching due to fewer sales. His paintings sold for good money.
I am an artist, but I am not required to make my living through my art. If you know of a gallery that is doing well during these times, post it in the comments section. My theory is that is tough economic times, fewer people spend money on art. What data do you have to support or destroy this viewpoint?
