Is it possible to achieve success with taking an old pig, throwing some paint on her and selling it as new?

I see many ads for eBooks on how to make millions using public domain content. I see other ads, where they have taken some old MLM scam, called it something new, and they now claim you can make millions by jumping on board.

One example that is thrown in my face every day, is Lady Gaga, or as I like to call her, Lady Blah, Blah. She has taken the Material Girls old act. Ramped up the controversy and is now riding the rails to the top? She has less skill than Madonna in my opinion. In my opinion she is nowhere near as attractive as Madonna is today (no I am not a fan of Madonna). Her songs have no musical or cultural value. It seems like she takes trance beat, shortens it by about 40 minutes, then ads 2 random sentences. There are times it seems like the two sentences are made up of random words. LOL

I am also sure that many of the MLM people who start the MLM do well to. I believe the type of success you see with Lady Blah, Blah and an MLM is pretty much the same.

You grab a bunch of people who are desperate to be part of the next thing.  Either 13 year or girls or the random white collar workers will work. They are pretty much the same animal, I believe.

You market how cool, paradigm shift changing this new thing is. Remember neither of these two groups have a memory that can last longer than 2 years.

Once you get these two groups on board, since they are so desperate to be in on the ground floor, you get them to work hard telling the next in line how cool this product/scam is. i.e.; 13 year old boys, 12 year old girls or average blue collar Joe who wants to become a white collared worker. Once this group gets involved you have caught fire. The problem is, pretty soon you either run out of people who are desperate enough. You may get dumped because the next NEW thing starts heating up. The worst case scenario is the grandma’s and grandpa’s start jumping on board, now the coolness factor is lost, because it can’t be cool if everyone is doing it.

This type of business model may seem attractive, but it does not equate to long term success. That only comes by actually delivering a quality product or service. Then marketing it truthfully, and wowing your customers.
